DHAKA, Aug 29 (Reuters) - Leading business conglomerate Beximco has set up a joint venture with a Saudi firm to invest nearly $1 billion to upgrade Bangladesh's sole oil refinery.

TOKYO, Aug 2 (Reuters) - Japan's Sharp Corp <6753.T> said on Monday it had formed a joint venture with Italian utility Enel and STMicroelectronics NV to make solar cells in Italy for sale in Europe and the Mediterranean area.

SINGAPORE - FLAG carrier Thai Airways and Singapore's Tiger Airways confirmed on Monday they planned to form a new low-fare airline. The 'Thai Tiger Airways' joint venture will be 51 per cent owned by Thai Airways and a Thai entity and 49 per cent owned by Tiger, the two airlines said in an announcement to the Singapore exchange, confirming an earlier report by Reuters.
